The memory limits between client and server are starting to compete; leaving an awkward gap with some editions in the Windows Server 2012 family-like Foundation and Essentials at 64 GB. High-end editions such as Standard and Datacenter have a memory limit of 4 TB. It is not known if the next revision of Windows Server currently in development will up its limit. With companies such as Samsung now releasing 128 GB DDR4 memory chips, it’s not hard to see client systems, most likely powerhouse gaming machines and workstations with 1 or 2 TB configurations soon.
