His team went out on the streets with an iPhone 4 and told people it was the new iPhone 5 from Apple. The responses are quite amusing. Of course, none of our groovy readers would fall for such a gag right?
Are people just not interested in tech and phones anymore? Or are we geeks too close to the situation and live in our own bubble and need to get lives? After all, unless you own the 4S or have one nearby to compare it with the external appearance hasn’t changed that much since the iPhone 4. Sure with the 5 it is thinner and has a slightly longer screen, but to the naked eye it is very similar in appearance without comparison. [4S-vs-5 comparison] I’ll also bet that most of these people have never seen the iPhone 5, so they don’t have any basis to go off of. Another thing to consider is that a fresh-out-of-the-box 4S is going to be faster than a 4S that has 100’s of apps installed on it, loaded into the background memory. If their 4S feels slow, they should do a Factory Reset and see if it still feels that way. As a tech geek, after handling the phone and going into the OS I would have immediately checked it out and realized it was in fact not a 5. What I didn’t get was that people were immediately going “oh it seems faster” after all they did was scroll the homescreen around and maybe visit a few websites. Really? $30? How many iPhones owners are there? 100 Million? 200 Million? So being that it probably costs Apple 10 cents to make the adapter, they should generate… $5.9 BILLION on that little piece of plastic… Now THAT was a great idea at Apple! This one with a longer cord is $39.99 http://bit.ly/SiJbZK And this one which is the standard adapter for $29.99 http://bit.ly/OHOVwB Another thing to point out is Apple has said nothing about a bumper for the new iPhone — Nickle and Dime to the death…YAY APPLE!
