Last Friday the Chromium logo was updated, and this week Chrome is following suit. The new Chrome logo is flat, simple, and looks a lot less like a pokeball. Currently it is only available in the developer channel version of Chrome, but it should probably hit the stable channel within the next week or two. We still don’t have any information regarding why the change took place, but it looks a lot less intrusive; maybe that is what Google is going for....

The new version can be downloaded in the Google Play Store. It includes quite a few new features, but the most important one is support for smartphone cameras without auto focus to read QR codes. This means that you can use the app from a cheaper smartphone to find out what’s around you is by photographing it with your phone’s camera. Or to scan QR codes directly — although there’s some other great apps for that....

The Google translate HTML5 web app has been around for a while now and it works great, but the Google translate team has finally decided that the iOS market is too big to pass up making an app for. As a bonus, the new iOS app has a feature the webapp didn’t, voice-to-text. As usual, the app is free and will work on most iOS devices, not just the iPhone....

It was just a matter of time before Google would have to announce a tablet of its own. I mean, if Microsoft has launched the Surface Tablet, Google had to do the same. And the rumors are already taking shape. Gizmodo Australia got its hands on the spec sheet and even a rendering of the device. These are unconfirmed, but since they seem to be very similar to other leaked info, there’s really no reason why we wouldn’t give them some street cred....
